The papers contain two articles, "Wiley's tavern: a southside Revolutionary shrine," by James M. Owens, documenting the historical importance of the tavern where Generals Cornwallis and Greene stopped; and "Taxation with representation, " by Laurence P. Moomau, discussing the detrimental effect of taxation on industry. There is also a letter, 1939 October 30, Owens to Berkeley, mentioning "Taylor items," the "Times-Dispatch" as a genealogical publication, the marriage of Cordell Hull, William H. Foote's "Huguenots, " and the Venable family.
